How Firecrown Showed Up for Earth Day and How You Can Too
Say Hi to Annie!
Nature connects us all, often in quiet ways we forget to notice.
For us at Firecrown, Earth Day isn’t just about admiring nature but about doing our part to care for it.
This year, our team stepped outside, got our hands dirty, and found new ways to care for the places that sustain us.
Here is how we showed up — and how you can too.
1. Start Small and Start Local
It is easy to think that change must be loud and grand. More often, it begins with quiet consistency.
Warren spent his Earth Day walking the beaches of his local surf break in Bolinas, picking up trash the tides had left behind.
No crowds. No headlines. Just one person, two buckets, and a simple choice to leave the beach better than he found it.
2. Say Yes to Unexpected Adventures
Earth Day rarely unfolds in a straight line. Sometimes it leads you somewhere better than you planned.
Megan began her morning working the soil at Bloom Farm.
By afternoon, she stood onstage at SF Climate Week, speaking about climate tech solutions in the built environment. Somewhere between rows of crops and rows of chairs, big ideas are sparked.
You never know who is in the room. One of Megan’s superpowers is connecting dots across different perspectives and bringing people together.
3. Get a Little Messy
It is tempting to imagine that progress looks clean and easy. The truth is, it usually looks like mud-stained boots and soaked sleeves.
Annie spent Earth Day knee-deep in the ponds of Forest Park in Queens, hauling out trash and tearing away invasive plants.
The work was tough, messy, and completely worth it.
Caring for nature often means stepping into the thick of it, exactly as it is.
4. Protect What Needs Protecting
There are places so rare that preserving them is not a choice but a responsibility.
Sara volunteered at Ballona Wetlands, one of the last natural wetlands in Los Angeles.
Through pulling weeds and nurturing native plants, she helped tip the balance back toward life.
In a world that moves quickly, standing still to protect what matters is an act of courage.
5. Make It Your Own
Joy has a place in this work too.
Emily spent her Earth Day on a paddle boat with friends, picking up debris across Lady Bird Lake under a wide, blue Texas sky.
They picked up trash, fought the wind, and shared a sense of pride in every bag they filled.
Making a difference doesn’t have to feel heavy. Sometimes, it feels like sunlight, teamwork, and small wins.
So… Why does it matter?
At Firecrown, we believe Earth Day is not the finish line. It is the starting point.
Protecting our world starts with daily habits of action, attention, and care.
It is in the choices we make when no one is watching, and in the way we show up for places that cannot speak for themselves.
We are proud of the small steps our team took, knowing they lead to lasting change.
And we know the work does not end here.
The future starts with muddy boots, small steps, and real commitment.
And a gentle reminder that EVERY DAY is Earth Day!
